SmartAcre Creates Measurable Community Impact During Second Annual Day of Caring

For the second year in a row, SmartAcres across the country participated in our annual “Day of Caring,” donating time to give back to our local communities ahead of this holiday season.

The SmartAcre® team volunteered a collective 80+ hours to Equi-librium, Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia, Regional Foodbank of Oklahoma, Keep Waco Beautiful, and Foodbank of Santa Barbara County. Activities ranged from landscaping and clearing brush to beautifying parks through trash clean-up to unloading donation trucks and organizing food to packaging bags of food for distribution to children and families in need.

“As an individual, it’s easy to think ‘Is what I’m doing actually helping this organization?’. There were times throughout Day of Caring when I was clearing brush that I felt like I wasn’t making progress or not doing enough. But to then step back at the end of the day, compare the morning landscape to the afternoon landscape, and see all that we had done, it was a good reminder that while one person may not think they’re making a difference, the truth is everyone’s contributions add up and ultimately make an impact,” said Sarah Pagats, Senior Inbound Marketing Associate at SmartAcre.

Some of the change that SmartAcre’s Day of Caring cultivated included packaging over 3,000 pounds of food to be distributed to K-12th grade students who face food insecurity across 16 counties in Oklahoma and clearing outside space in a matter of hours compared to weeks, allowing the team at Equi-librium to be ahead of winter preparations and have more time to focus on the therapeutic programs they provide to individuals.

“One of the best parts of helping our communities is when you can bring everyone together and work as a team to complete a project that will make a long lasting impact”, said SmartAcre CEO David Snyder.

Day of Caring is just one of the ways SmartAcre demonstrates its core value and culture of Always Be Caring.

And for some of us, it’s just the starting point of giving back.

As Ambar Catalan, our Marketing Technologist shared, “I loved helping at the Food Bank of Santa Barbara County and am already looking to see where and when I can volunteer again.”
