AI Strategies for Marketing & Sales

On April 30, SmartAcre hosted the first session in our event series, At the Acre, right here in Allentown, PA. The topic? AI strategies for marketing and sales. We discussed ways marketers, sales teams, and RevOps leaders are actually using AI to improve workflows, unlock capacity, and drive meaningful results.

The feedback was clear:

  • People are experimenting with AI, but most are doing it in isolation
  • Tools like ChatGPT are powerful, but only when used with context
  • Teams are still missing foundational frameworks around policy, usage, and strategy
  • We have many tools at our fingertips (some even paid!) that are underutilized

Takeaways: AI Strategies and Use Cases for Marketing and Sales

Explore GPTs

There are so many custom versions of ChatGPT pre-built with instructions and knowledge. Our audience shared some of their favorites, including JobsGPT and CampaignsGP,T both created by SmarterX.ai. JobsGPT gives you the ability to break down jobs into a series of tasks, showing you how and where to prioritize AI usage. If you are unsure where to even start to use AI for yourself or your team or struggling to forecast new jobs, try this out! We also discussed how to build your own custom GPT. This is a great approach to scaling both adoption and knowledge across your team.

AI tools

Google tools are underutilized

Most attendees were surprised by just how much AI power is already built into the Google Workspace tools they use every day. Tools like NotebookLM, Gemini Slides, and even Google Docs (have you tried the AI summary feature?) sparked real “aha” moments, especially for content-heavy teams.

prompting

Prompting isn’t the problem. Context is.

A big mistake marketing leaders and teams are still making? Asking AI to write content without context. Teams are getting low-quality outputs because they’re skipping the background, tone, or formatting expectations. Teaching your team how to prompt and giving them access to shared reference material is critical. Think about how you can use AI as a thought partner across the full customer journey instead of just for top of the funnel or specific tactics. Using voice mode can be a real benefit here, especially for strategy development or in iterating and reviewing work.

AI usage policy image

Policy is still a hot topic.

One of the most active parts of the discussion centered on AI usage policies and how few organizations have formalized them. Leaders want guardrails. Teams want clarity. Without it, you’re either holding people back or exposing your org to risks.

AI Adoption: 3 Things Marketing and Sales Leaders Can Start Doing Now

  1. Talk to your team about AI. Everyone’s using it differently. Start the conversation. This is a key step in building your policy.
  2. Build a prompt library. Capture what works, and make it accessible. Then start considering the use of your own custom-built GPTs.
  3. Create a usage policy. Even a basic one. Start with easy to follow do’s and don’ts.

What Did Marketing and Sales Leaders Share?

“When you think you know a thing or two about AI, have a conversation with the team at SmartAcre and you’ll realize how much more there is to it. This event wasn’t just educational, it was a mindset reset.”

“I now treat ChatGPT like a thought partner. I learned that it doesn’t just generate content. It evolves with how you prompt, how much context you give, and how clearly you define your needs. That mindset shift alone was worth it.”

“The best consultants won’t be replaced by AI, but they will be replaced by consultants who know how to use it. This event reinforced that I need to not only understand AI tools, but integrate them into how I think and work every day.”

“AI is strategic. The ‘1% better’ mindset really landed with me. Even advanced users are overwhelmed, just at a higher level. This helped me realize that progress, not perfection, is the goal.”

“This wasn’t about flashy tools. It was about building AI literacy, responsibly scaling adoption, and creating a structure your whole team can benefit from. I left not just inspired, but equipped.”

“Delphi.ai, NotebookLM, Gemini Slides… I hadn’t heard of half of these, and now I’m exploring how they can change the way I plan, write, and ideate. The future isn’t coming. It’s already here, and I’m more ready for it now.”

“Hearing real prompts, real use cases, and how to create policies that support smart, safe adoption? I left with a clearer vision of what AI implementation could look like at our company.”
